Admittedly, it’s taken much longer than originally anticipated to write the duteous annual blog post. I don’t have a particularly good excuse. To be honest, I’ve started writing this five times or more, all of which resulted in nothing profound, and nothing posted. Real life. That’s the excuse, and I’m sticking to it.
Most of you probably haven’t even noticed. Why? Because aside from dabbling in the latest WoW expansion and a short stint back in UO “free-server land”, our differing tastes in “games-other-than-UO” seems to be getting the better of this community’s token social gaming pastime. I would identify the culprit: the lack of engaging cooperative/competitive multiplayer titles for the PC. 2011 was stagnant, in those terms.
Enter 2012. The year of Diablo III. The year of Guild Wars 2. The year of Borderlands 2. There are a lot of great games slated to be released and perhaps not enough time to play them all. The challenge this year? Reconnecting as a community.
I’m sure everyone is really looking forward to all the upcoming opportunities to do exactly that—a return to the debauchery that is DI.
I can just hear Mike’s voice in my head right now… something like, “There’s still absolutely nothing profound about this. How many times did you say you sat down to write this?”
To which I respond, “EAD.”
Looking forward to seeing everyone in game, in Ventrilo, and on the forums!
