Post Re: G15 or G19?
I"m not saying the G19 is bad, but damn is it expensive compared to what I've seen the G15 hit: i.e. I've seen the G15 hit maybe $80ish or less on a good day, whereas the G19 is still $150+ after mail-in. So one's twice as much as the other.

A deciding factor that many found too annoying to deal with: The g19 requires its own power source. Of course this allowed for not only a built-in USB hub, but a powered one.

Also note, the original g15 is basically not sold anymore (was wider with even more extra keys). The current one is revision 2.

Whereas the G19 is rather wide with its extra keys.

The G19 also requires more installation / software. There is less of a community behind it (being so exclusive / expensive / newer / etc.). I'm not sure if this'll matter ultimately.

------------------

In general I'd say go with the g15, but having a mini-computer w/ its own monitor is pretty damn neat.

http://www.steelseries.com makes some good gaming boards. You can edit all the keys to do some crazy shit for games, they have a nice lay out, and it can handle up to 7 key strokes at a time instead of 2 like most keyboards.

the only games ive tried it on are Heroes of newerth and UO and it worked out real well for both of those games. But they have premade layouts for a lotta different games including all of the call of duties and WoW.

i have a feeling it will help ya out greatly with a game like Darkfall too becuase of the way u can customize the keys

I've seen Steelseries boards. They have prices high and low, but I don't know anything about them.

Even with all that considered, I've never spent over $40 on a keyboard, and that was back when the Logitech Elite was the most expensive keyboard you could buy. I'm still using it 7 years later (even though it lacks full support in Windows 7 or Vista).

I've thought about buying a G15 or G11 (more budget), before the G19 existed. It almost pissed me off that it came out, and keyboard prices from Logitech effectively doubled.

I tried out a Logitech MX5000 bluetooth keyboard + laser mouse combo (MSRP $150), but wireless keyboards suuuuuuuuuuck for gaming, especially bluetooth; they have even more lag and power-saving delay.

----------------------------

Newegg.com sells keyboards all the way up to $255, but they're not even for gaming.

----------------------------

I don't see an exact number on how many keys the Logitech G15 can press, but it's not less than 4. The G19 claims at least 5. I think it depends on which keys are pressed that you could press even more.

Yea, I currently have the Microsoft Wireless 7000 and a Wireless Entertainment 7000. Both expensive laptops but not the keys Needed for gaming and wireless has too much of a delay most of the time.

The G19 is a bit more expensive and I can see places where the G15 is only about $80. I may just go with that one. Its good enough for what I need it for. If in a couple years im a more serious gamer than I am now I may upgrade to something more like the G19.

Dude I'm pretty sure I made a post about this in another thread..

You NEED the G11.

The G11 sold for about 40 bucks on newegg and the keyboard rocks. It's backlit keys and it has 18 customizable keys that you can switch to three modes making 54 macro programmable keys. This thing is insane and the software they give you to write macros for it lets you press one of those buttons and it will do an entire macro sequence with delays, key clicks, and even mouse clicks. You WANT this thing for darkfall, trust me.

Haha. Well I will take your word for it and save myself another $40. If it doesnt work out, it was only $40. Doesnt seem like a bad board tho. Ill order it this weekend probably, or pick it up around town if someone has it.

Yeah the G11 is a really solid keyboard, that's actually what I've been using for a while. I second Brian's recommendation.

A neat sale if any of you are considering buying a keyboard:

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G15-Gami ... slickdeals

That's a new G15 for $65.51 (after $20 mail-in rebate), free shipping, potentially no sales tax depending on your location.

Even a cheap price on a new G11 is about $75. That and the G11 appears to basically be discontinued.

There is the G110 on the other hand, pretty neat, too: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keybo ... 2&cl=us,en , can be had for about $70. It has custom backlight colors that you can choose from, integrated USB audio converter (very new).

---------------

Anyways, it's all good, more competition = better products. I'm on the edge of buying the G15 for this price though.

Couldn't resist, bought a G15 new from Amazon for $65.51 (free shipping, no sales tax, after $20 mail-in).

I've never seen it dip that low from a reputable seller in new condition, and I've been using the same keyboard for nearly 7 years now. Windows 7 and Vista don't support my current keyboard fully, either.

If money were no object, I'd love to try the G19, but it would be about $110 more than the G15. It's hard to find $110 in value between the two.

Haha. Every penny counts!

I actually ended up getting a Sidewinder x6. It was free so cant complain. Just got it earlier and havnt got to mess with it, but seems pretty decent.

Looks pretty good Mr. "It fell of the truck" Microsoft. I like the red backlighting.
